I made the big move to England from Austria about four months ago, and up until recently had been using call cards to ring home and check that everyone is ok. I don’t know why it is always me whose the last person to get to grips with new technology! I thought that using VoIP would require more technical knowledge than it actually does, I was shocked at how simple it was – not to mention how cheap and convenient it is as well.

As well as being able to make cheap calls to Austria using the internet, I can also make cheap calls from my mobile now using a small program I have downloaded and installed (as long as wi-fi is available). With all these great solutions for making cheap calls overseas I have no idea why anyone would be messing around with phone cards, or swapping their SIM cards over to make an in international phone call anymore.

I love the way you can make calls back home to see how everyone is getting on without having to worry about the cost, or watch the clock. I only wish that I had realised how easy VoIP was to use when I first moved over as it would have saved me a lot of time money and effort. My next challenge is to get my friends to sign up as well so I can ring them for free!
